McCook, NE to Platt City, MO

Total Miles: 367mi

The plan the first few days is to follow the same route on the motorcycle as I did on my bicycle. It interesting how different the countryside seems between the 2 modes of transportation. On the bike it was more scenic. It was easier to take pictures as I passed along the trail. On the motorcycle I get to cover so much more ground. Todays route took me 4 days to cover on the bicycle.

The other benefit of the motorcycle was the wind factor. The constant cross wind of 20+ mph was tiring. I was being bounced around, and on a bicycle that would have only been miserable. I did see a brave bicyclist with his packed paneers trekking his way west.

If you remember back to my bicycle trip there was a night that a nice man saved me from sleeping in the city park and offered me a stay in his man cave. Well I passed by that house today for old time sake. It brought back joy as I remember that there are good people in this world. I also passed by the park that I didn't end up sleeping in. They tore down the gazebo that I had planned to call home that night.

Platt City is a fond memory for Megan (Daughter) and I. I had planned to go 60 miles one day leaving from Whiting, KS...but after only a few miles I had called Megan asking her to book me a hotel. If you want the full story look back to the blog on day 56. Well she happened to book me a hotel in Platt City AND it happened to be at the same hotel room. It also feels like maybe the same room?

Next up tomorrow: Maybe making it all the way to Lafayette, IN
